Sustainability

Responsibility, stated plainly

Mineral supply chains carry real social and environmental consequence. This page sets out how we work — and is deliberately free of performance claims we have not measured.

Our position

We would rather publish less than overstate

Sustainability reporting in commodities is crowded with figures that cannot be traced to a measurement basis. We have taken the opposite approach: what follows describes our operating practice, and any quantitative claim published here in future will carry its measurement basis and the party that verified it.

Responsible sourcing

Responsible sourcing begins with knowing where material comes from and who handled it. We treat documented origin and chain of custody as preconditions of trade rather than as reporting obligations to be satisfied later.

Where origin cannot be evidenced to the standard the receiving market requires, we decline the transaction. That is a commercial position as much as an ethical one: material that cannot be evidenced cannot reliably be sold.

Supply-chain transparency

Each transaction is recorded against a documented chain: supplier, origin, inspection, transport and delivery. Buyers receive the documentation set agreed in contract.

We do not publish aggregate sustainability performance data until it has been measured and verified. Where a figure has not been independently established, we say so rather than estimate it.

Counterparty verification

Suppliers and buyers are onboarded through identity, ownership and sanctions screening, with documentation retained against the counterparty record.

Verification is repeated rather than assumed to persist — ownership and control of trading entities change, and a check that is three years old is not a check.

Environmental responsibility

Mineral supply chains carry real environmental impact across extraction, processing and freight. We assess supplier practice as part of onboarding and prefer counterparties who can evidence their environmental management.

We make no claim to carbon neutrality or to a specific environmental performance figure. Any such claim published here in future will be accompanied by its measurement basis and the party that verified it.

Ethical procurement

Our commercial conduct standards apply to intermediaries as much as to producers. We do not pay or accept undisclosed commissions, and we expect the same of the counterparties we work with.

Where a jurisdiction or counterparty presents elevated risk, additional diligence is applied before, not after, commitment.

Long-term supplier relationships

Repeat supply relationships produce better material, better documentation and fewer disputes than opportunistic spot trading.

We invest in supplier relationships over multiple shipments, which gives buyers continuity of specification and gives producers a predictable route to market.

Disclosure

What we have not claimed

We have not published a carbon figure, a certification, an audit outcome, a supplier-compliance rate or an ESG rating. None of those have been independently established for Mattar Mineral Trade, and publishing them unverified would undermine the very thing this page exists to communicate.

Where a standard, certification or framework is adopted in future it will be named here along with its scope, the period it covers and the assurance provider. Until then, please treat this page as a statement of operating practice rather than of measured performance.
